Hurricane Ridge offers spectacular views of the Olympics, Canada and the straits of

Juan de Fuca and Seattle Area. It is a popular place for winter sports such as skiing and snow boarding and snowshoeing is offered on week ends during the winter months.

Victoria BC is a wonderful day trip and a fun city to visit.

I highly recommend the BUG ZOO.

Sequim in July is blazing in purple as it hosts the annual Lavender Festival.

Whidbey Island is a short ferry ride away - Deception Pass, Langley Coupeville are all beautiful any time of year and fun for tourist shopping

A day trip to Seattle is full with a visit to Pikes Market, The Seattle Aquarium and

the Seattle Underground or take in a Seattle Sounders or Mariner's Game

The Olympic Music Festival - Chamber Music in the Barn -

Featuring World Renowned Artists

To enter the Olympic Peninsula you will cross the Hood Canal Floating Bridge. It is the longest floating bridge in the United States and is 1 miles long. The view is always spectacular and the Olympic Peninsula region is rich in outdoor activities. The natural environment and developed facilities around Port Ludlow offer hikes on wooded trails and paths, dig for clams and oysters along the beaches, drive through scenic countryside, or enjoy biking, kayaking, fly fishing or jogging our beautiful country roads.

For water lovers, there is a marina as well as boat launches for sailing, power boating, fishing, wind surfing and kayaking in the many coves, bays and protected areas. Boat and Kayak Rentals are available.

At the corner of Oak Bay Road and Paradise Bay Road lies the commercial hub of Port Ludlow with a grocery-gas store, casual dining, a Day spa, art gallery and gift shop, beauty salon, post office and other professional services.

Port Ludlow hosts a premier 27 hole championship golf course, featuring three distinct and challenging nines: Tide, Timber and Trail. Each course is artfully carved and sculptured out of dense forest with no two holes playing alike. Here is a golfer's paradise, where deer roam, cedar stumps emerge from water hazards and wild flowers explode in a riot of spring colors. There are two other golf courses nearby if you desire more green.

Port Ludlow is close to playgrounds, parks and the excellent Chimacum School District. Restaurants, fire service, dental and chiropractic care and medical aid are available within the community. Grocery stores, major shopping malls, doctors, dentists, hospitals, churches, art galleries and entertainment are all within a 15-to- 30 minute drive. A great first day is to hike Ludlow Falls, have a home made breakfast at Snug Harbor Café and then take a cruise around Ludlow Bay on the Ginger Snap, a 1919 Casino Launch. If you prefer the wind on your face a sailboat awaits you.

Note:  There are many antique, second hand and thrift stores on the Peninsula they can be found in the phone book upon arrival.  However, I can not seem to find any web sites about them. (Perhaps web sites are much too modern for "antique" stores to be a part of !)

Restaurants:  They are too numerous to mention but you can find every type of cuisine you desire within a few miles of Beaver's Pond Retreat.  Just ask for our personal favorites.

Another good source for current information on what is happening in the area, visit the PT Guide, or see the weekly newspaper The Leader Online.. Please, before you go, don't forget to BOOKMARK us so you can find your way back. (Thank you!)

Phone: (360) 732-7148. Please let this number ring! If not immediately answered, it rolls to a cellular phone and then to voice mail. We try to be reachable!
